Production Blog: Filming & Editing part 2

Image
Picture of the staircase where plenty of the scenes are shot in.    During the second session of filming, we filmed the whole dialogue part. This included having the guy actor be on the phone with his wife. The scripts were pretty much followed strictly, with a few improv from the actor. About 3 takes were taken. I recorded on different phones in order to get different angles. We were going to use airpods as mics but the ones we had got water in them I guess because the sound was very static. We also had to try out different ways to include what the woman had to say in it too. We recorded a voiceover as well as just putting her on speaker and speaking back ti the man.

Production Blog: Filming and editing day 1

For my first day of filming, I only filmed the very beginning where the titles. would be played. This ended. up being about 35 sec. into the film. These shots consisted of shots outside the house and around my community. I filmed during the day and also had to get some shots at night. I had to choose which car I would be choosing and decided on my mom's white mini van we currently have. I feel like white vans just have  more negative connotations to them, fitting for my film. I had to get my brother to film the parts that consisted of me driving. My brother and then my sister will be part of my filming and acting team. Thankfully, it did not rain, and were able to get the shots needed standing outside of the main house. We had to zoom in to it and zoom into the sky above.     While I did end up following my script, I tried different options of the placement of the "Based on True events" title sequence. We ended up going with the original idea after showing our parents a

Planning for Final Task: Storyboard

Image
Above are the 18 scenes for my whole intro all planned out. Please excuse the stick figures, as I am not the best drawer. However I added lots of details under each scene. For all scenes it will be played out with suspenseful music in the background. The music comes from free music from an app that will be included. When there will be dialogue the music will be very low and then go up again. The story board helped a lot as all actors and filming team knew exactly my vision for the movie. I'm sure it will make the whole production part a lot easier.

Elements of thriller this movie has is the crazy twists and dynamic characters in its plot. Dren, the human/animal hybrid creature genetic doctors in the movie create, is a very dynamic character. The directors were able to create this without Dren having to actually talk and have dialogue. In my own project, I have to create a dynamic character that doesn't have any actual dialect as well. Just through straight letters and other people reactions to it. Dren ended up trying to kill the people who raised her and do other crazy stuff that the audiences had no idea would happen. I would like to have my audience at the edge of their seat as well. I really liked the weird Dialect they created for the creatures, I believed this was an important element for the genre Thriller. It was different and weird, however I love how realistic they made them look because that is another important part of thrillers. Usually they are kept realistic so the readers can think that it is possible for this
